Holiday Card Series 2019 Day 13 – Guest Designer Karen Boyce

November 29, 2019

Hi everyone! It’s Karen from Cards Stamp’s and Ink and I am excited to be here with you and I’m taking over Dana’s blog and Youtube channel to share in the fun of Dana’s Got Joy Creations Holiday Series for 2019. Make sure you are following this series for amazing holiday inspiration, giveaways, discount codes and don’t forget to leave a comment below to qualify for all of the giveaways. There will also be tutorials and cards shared by Dana as well and she will have a few surprises to share with you!

I’m a card maker located in Toronto, Ontario Canada!  Trying new products and colouring makes my heart content!  I also enjoy traveling so you will see my many adventures to crafty places!  Make sure to try and keep up! LOL

Karen Boyce

Today I used the Oversized Merry die from Waffle Flower! I pulled out some Yupo paper and my Deception Alcohol ink Pearls from Ranger. First I start with wetting the Yupo with the blending solution first and then added my alcohol ink pearls. I used an air blower to help move the ink and solution around. Once the ink was where I wanted it I left it to dry.  I decided to make a second panel since I was having so much fun! Then I used the Waffle Flower oversized Merry to cut out the middle of the paper. I popped out the die cut and glued it using Gina K Designs Connect glue to my card base made from 110 pound Neenah cardstock. I made sure to save the inner pieces of the R’s and Y so that I could use them to make a second card from the same piece of Yupo.  I added a few gems from Pretty Pink Posh and voila! 4 Christmas cards! Let me know if you decide to try this!

The GJC Holiday Card Series runs from November 17 to December 14.  Each day Dana will have a Guest Designer right here on the blog sharing their holiday card ideas just like I did here today. Hopefully you will find something to inspire you to create holiday cards for your family and friends this year. Follow along on her YouTube Channel and make sure you leave comments on each designer’s posts or videos for chances to win.

Holiday Card Series 2019 – Day 12 Avery Elle

November 28, 2019

Hey everyone.  It’s Dana back with you today.  Who’s ready for an Avery Elle shaker card?  I’m so excited to share this card with you because I absolutely love the way it turned out.  Let me show you the card first.

Avery Elle

Mixing several Avery Elle stamps made this card super easy to come together.  This card is going to my sweet niece Ariah for Christmas.  She watches her titi’s videos with her grandmother and I hope she loves how it came together.

Avery Elle

All products for the video are listed below for your shopping convenience. I’ve used affiliate links at no cost to you.  Thank you for your support.

For my bonus card today I used the Santa Bear to make a quick and easy holiday card. This card was stamped with fade out ink onto watercolor paper.  I kept the card simply with watercoloring and a few gems.  For the puffy white elements on the card I used puffy dimensional paint.  I love adding this product to my cards during the holidays.

Sometimes you just need a cute focal point on your card and a sentiment.  No layers or extras for this one. Remember, you can make your holiday cards easy and fun.  Never let a piece of paper get the best of you. 😉 I’ve been so inspired by this card series and all the different style each of us are sharing. So you can pick a style you see here and run with it.  Or you can get more colorful and add the extras that you like to your cards.

Avery Elle

Thanks for stopping by today.  Make sure to keep those comments coming for your chance to win one of the amazing giveaways we have.  There will be another fabulous guest designer back here tomorrow. Make sure to return and see what she has for you. Have an awesome day everyone!

Holiday Card Series 2019 Day 10 – Simon Says Stamp

November 26, 2019

Hey everyone.  I’m back with you today sharing another inspirational card and tutorial using products from Simon Says Stamp and Gina K. Designs.  Working with stencils on your holiday cards is a quick and easy way to mass produce a ton.  Adding extra sparkle with the Gina K. Designer glitz glitter gel just steps everything up 10 notches. 😉. Let’s get into the card.

For this beautiful, I stayed with my favorite color combination of teal and red.  To not distract from this color combination, I pulled in some silver and vellum.

Simon Says Stamp

Let’s take a peek at the video to see how this beautiful card came together.

For my bonus card today, I kept it very clean and simple.  I used the Simon Says Stamp Ornamental Wreath as my main focal point.  I die cut it out of green card stock.  Next I layered tiny red gems as my berries around the wreath. The background panel I used the We R’ Memory Keepers geometric embossing folder for a quilted look.  I also ran a piece of red card stock through the embossing folder and placed it in the center of the wreath.

Simon Says Stamp

My wreath needed a bow so I die cut one out and stamped a sentiment onto a strip of white card stock.  Now it was time to assemble the card.  I layered a piece of red card stock on a white card base.  Next I adhered the embossed background. I glued the red piece being the wreath and glowed the wreath down.  Using the tips of my scissors I gently lifted some of the leaves on the wreath.

That’s all for today.  Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to swing back by tomorrow for more inspiration.  Keep those commenting coming for your chance to win one of the amazing giveaways we have.

Holiday Card Series 2019 Day 9 – Guest Designer Pocono Pam

November 25, 2019

Hola everyone! It’s Pocono Pam here and I am excitedly taking over Dana’s blog and Youtube channel today as guest designer for the Got Joy Creations Holiday Series 2019. Make sure you are following this series for amazing holiday inspiration, giveaways and discount codes!  Don’t forget to leave a comment below to qualify for all the great giveaways! Throughout the series, Dana will be sharing tutorials, cards and a few surprises that you will NOT want to miss!

The Got Joy Holiday Series is a true reflection of Dana’s love of creating cards to share with family and friends! I am soooo very excited and honored to be part of this series. Before I share my card, let me tell you a bit about my crafty self! I discovered my true love for glitter, paper & glue in 2008 when I moved from The Bronx, New York to the Poconos in Pennsylvania and took my first scrapbooking class at Michaels. Creating cards, mini albums and playing with Copic Markers all grabbed my attention once I joined our crafty community on YouTube and Instagram. I have been inspired by many awesome crafters and artists, some of whom have become great friends!

I met Dana a few years ago and we quickly realized that outside of paper crafting we shared the same passion for our families, laughter, Bruno Mars, kindness, coffee, squirrels and spreading joy!

Today’s holiday card is inspired by Dana! We initially met on Periscope when she was giggling and sharing the release of The Ton’s Holiday Bows Stamps set. I fell in love with the set and eventually gained a friend! Therefore, I wanted to use the stamp set that launched our friendship to create my card.

Pocono Pam

I have a video on how I created the card. I also explain in full the story behind why the bows mean so much to me!

I was thinking of a glittery, glamorous holiday party when I created my card.  I knew that along with Holiday Bows and the Wedding Haute Dress, also by The Ton, would make a stunning card.  As you can see, my holiday bow set is well loved.

I stamped several bows in 3 sizes into Neenah Solar white 80 lb paper using my Misti.  I used Ranger Archival Ink: Aque as the base layer and Brutus Monroe Gradient Chalk Ink: Sea Glass For the top layer.
I added highlights and shadows to each bow the the following Copic Markers: BG10, BG32, BG13, BG15, N2 and C2.  I was going to apply Wink of Stella to the bows but changed my mind.  I used my Circuit Cuttlebug to cut out the bows.

Next, I stamped out the image of the woman on Neenah Solar White 80lb paper using both Ink on 3 Fade Out No Line Coloring Detail Ink and Brutus Monroe Raven Detail Ink. I wanted to use my creative license and add an Afro to the image but needed to see how it would look with each ink medium. I decided to go with a combo of Fade Out ink on the top part of image and the Raven ink on the bottom. This way, I can add an Afro without a visible dark line underneath.

I love the Ink On 3 Fade Out Ink as it takes on the color of the medium you are using. I added the Afro and colored the image using the following Copic Markers:

Afro: C0 C01 C03 C04 CO6

Skin: E000 E00 E01

Dress: R24 R27 R29

The afro is consists of dots and small squiggly lines.

I fussy cut the image with my Tim Holtz Non Stick Serrated Snip Scissors. Placing her on top on one of the stamped images I did not use, I traced around the Afro. I then cut out the entire image with about a 1/8″ border. This will be used as a background piece. I applied a generous amount of Spectrum Noir Sparkle Glitter to the dress and Black Wink of Stella to the Afro and let it dry for a few minutes. I popped my Tonic Studios Script Merry Christmas die in my Cuttlebug with a scrap of shimmery paper and Bazzill Wax Lips paper- love that name for the color red- and cut out my sentiment. I added Spectrum Noir Sparkle Glitter and adhered it to the shadow.

Now dry, I used my Tonic Studios Crafty Tacky Glue to adhere the image to the background piece I traced earlier and set aside.

I knew I wanted the bows to surround the image.  It took me about five minutes to decide on the arrangement I wanted. Once I did…..I took a few pics to recall bow placement and glued everything down to a Bazzill Wax Lips Red A7 (5X7) card base.

Pocono Pam

I enjoyed creating this glamorous Dana card!  I hope you will be inspired to use your markers, stamps and creative license to make a holiday card! Please note: The GJC Holiday Card Series runs from November 17 to December 14. Today I am sharing a card I created with the Christmas sELFies stamp set by MFT.  I stamped 3 of the images with a Copic safe ink and colored them all with my Copic.  I added a bit of shimmer to the background using some Liquid Pixie Dust by Ink on 3 and added a few white gel pen details.  I finished off the card with the sentiment and a little Glossy Accents for some extra shine, especially to Rudolph’s nose.
