September 24, 2021

(Affiliate links are used at no cost to you)

Hey everyone. I’m back with a tutorial sharing easy ink blending fall leaves with Hero Arts Fall Leaves stencil. A pretty stencil and colorful inks make fall cards so easy to make.

Since I live in Florida, we really don’t get fall weather so creating a fall inspired card is the way to go for me. LOL

Adding a little bit of shimmer on the card really makes it stand out.

Altenew Paint-A-Flower: Carnations & Woodless Watercolor Pencils Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

October 22, 2020

Hey everyone.  I’m participating in the Altenew – Paint A Flower Sunflower blog hop today.  You should have arrived here from Tania’s blog. The Paint A Flower Sunflower is absolutely stunning and creates beautiful cards.  Let me share what I’ve created.

Paint-A-Flower Sunflower

For my card today I used the newly released Woodless Watercolor Pencils and the Paint-A-Flower Sunflower.  I love sunflowers so this stamp set was perfect for me to color. With the new woodless pencils that I am currently obsessed with it was easy to create a gorgeous card.

Stamping my image in brown ink, I pulled a few of the watercolor pencils out and began to add color to my image. I pulled color directly from the pencil and also by adding color directly to the paper. Mixing tones of orange, yellow and greens allowed my palette to rest easily on my off white watercolor paper.

Altenew Paint-A-Flower Sunflower

I made sure to build up my color gradually instead of all at once. Making sure to heat set the color before adding more. Once I had the last round of color on my image I heat set it once again.

Altenew Paint-A-Floer Sunflower

Wanting to pull in some brown from the watercolor panel, I trimmed down my watercolor paper and layered it on a piece of dark brown cardstock. I only allowed the brown color to peek through at the top and left side of the image. To finish off my card I stamped a sentiment from the Paint-A-Flower Sunflower set and added a few gold baubles. I placed my panel onto a white card base.

In case you thought your watercoloring collection couldn’t get any better, think again. Create stunning watercolor effects with our Woodless Watercolor Pencils! This set includes a wide range of beautiful, vibrant colors, and each pencil comes pre-sharpened and ready to use. You can either apply the color onto paper and blend with a wet brush, or pick it up with the brush directly from the pencil. The pigment dissolves smoothly, leaving no marks on the paper, and the colors can be easily mixed and layered for various effects.

This set contains 24 pencils that come in 24 unique colors. The Woodless Watercolor Pencil 24 set is $44.99 and well worth the price. Here is an color swatch so you can see the colors. If the woodless watercolor pencils are out of stock make sure  to sign up for a back in stock notification email on a product page.

To celebrate this release, Altenew is giving away a $30 gift certificate to 2 lucky winners! Please leave a comment on the Altenew Card Blog by 10/28/2020 for a chance to win. We’ll also draw a winner to receive a $15 gift certificate from the comments left on each designer’s blog on the blog hop list below. All winners will be announced on the Altenew Winners Page on 10/30/2020.

Heat Emboss With Makeup

October 5, 2019

Happy World Card Making Day. I have a new tutorial for you on sharing how to heat emboss your cards with makeup! Yes, you read that correct…makeup!  This is such a cool way to add color to your card instead of ink or regular embossing powder.  Since I have retired, I don’t wear a lot of makeup anymore so it was just sitting there waiting to be used from something else.  Today tutorial is all about using your makeup as just another tool for your crafting happiness.

So here is the card we are going to create today.  Look how gorgeous it looks against the makeup palette.  I could just stare at this all day. 😂 The simple things that make me happy in this world. Heat emboss cards just look so much cooler I think. So why not heat emboss with makeup?

Heat Emboss With Makeup

You will see in the tutorial just how easy this is to create.  The possibilities is really endless here on the color combinations you can create.  The stamp I’m using today is from Sunny Studios and it’s called Elegant Leaves.  This is such a pretty stamp set and as soon as I saw it I had to have it in my crafty stash.

Heat Emboss Your Card With Makeup

As you can see in this photo you not only get color with this technique, you also get some texture as well.  That’s what I really enjoy about the sticky embossing powder.  It leaves some granulation behind that you can feel on your card.  (CAUTION: Do not overhead this embossing powder).  I’ll share my tip on how to make sure you keep that granulation in the video. So onto the video. You can watch it here or over at my Youtube channel mzdanajoy.  I’ve used affiliate links for your convenience at no cost to you. Want to see other tutorials from me? Morning everyone. It's another day for valentine c Morning everyone. It's another day for valentine cards. In today's tutorial I made a trio of valentine cards from one background. This was so easy and so much fun to make. Where are my Distress Oxide Spray lovers?

With three colors of @tim_holtz Distress Oxide Sprays these cards were created. I don't have all the sprays and are "collecting" them little by little. The fear of using these sprays have been unleashed. 😂😂😂 After watching more and more videos from Tim, my nervousness of "messing it up" has been replaced by "oh that's so pretty".

By using just two die cuts from products from the January 2023 release from @heroarts

The link for the tutorial is in the bio and I hope I inspire you to start creating your Valentine's Day Cards.
