Friendship Blog Hop

February 12, 2020

Hey everyone.  Welcome to the Friendship Blog hop.  I know I’ve been missing for a little bit.  I caught a really bad cold while I was at Creativation and have felt horrible since my return.  I’m finally getting back into my craft room and searching for my creative side. So being a part of the Friendship Blog hop was the perfect way to get my inspiration back.

You can start at the beginning of the hop from Courtney’s blog.  Courtney is the organizer of this event and I’m thrilled to be a part of it.  There are amazing creative souls on the Friendship Blog hop and there are SIXTEEN Youtube tutorials as well as blog post and slide photos.  Trust me you want to see them all.

Since I’m just getting back into my room, I thought watercoloring would fill my creative block.  I enjoy watercoloring as I can push my creative side and it’s pretty therapeutic for me.  Including a rainbow themed card is the perfect way to happiness. 😉 I have a tutorial over on my Youtube channel for you to check out.  Here’s a few photos of the completed card.

Holiday Card Series 2019 Day 3 – Concord & 9th

November 19, 2019

Hey everyone.  It’s Day 3 of the Holiday Card Series. I am your host today. I hope you are enjoying the series so far and you are getting inspired by our guest designers.  Today’s cards feature products from Concord and 9th.  Concord and 9th is a company I adore.  Their products are amazing and so creative.   The owner Angie is one the sweetest people I know.  I love her dedication to the crafting community and supporting crafters is genuine.  Thank you Angie for supporting me again this year. Let’s get into the tutorial.

For my first card I used the Stocking Stuffers stamps and dies from Concord & 9th to make a cute stocking card with a colorful snowflake background.  This card was super easy to pull together and I love the color combos on this one.

Concord & 9th Stocking Stuffers

To tone down the brightness of my background panel I used a sheet of vellum.

For my second card I used the Merry Shapes stamp set and die. These stamp and die combo make very clean and simple cards that WOW your recipients.  Keeping the card to just two colors really lets the image stand out.  Repeating a pattern across a card is a simple way to mass produce your holiday cards.  I stamped the image first with Versamark ink on navy card stock.  I heat embossed the images with gold embossing powder.  Next I die cut out image with the coordinating die.  Setting these pieces aside I began to work on the sentiment.

Concord and 9th Merry Shapes

Keeping with the clean and simple look I stamped the sentiment on navy card stock, heat embossed it in gold embossing powder and glued into onto a strip of gold foil paper. Now it was time to put my card together. Starting with a white card base, I layered on navy card stock.  To bring in some gold I pulled out my neutral foil pack and used the gold paper so I could layer another piece of navy car stock on top. I adhered my die cut shapes across this panel with foam tape and trimmed down the extra bits hanging off the sides.  For the sentiment, I popped it up with foam tape as well.

Concord and 9th Merry Shapes

This panel was now ready to for the card base. To finish off the card I glued down a few flat back sequins on several of the open circle areas on the card.  Super easy card to make multiples of.  I’ve linked the products below that I used on these cards.  Thanks for stopping by today. See you back here soon.

Shaker Card – Shaking Up My St. Patrick’s Day Birthday Card

March 9, 2019

Hey peeps.  As promised I’m shaking up my St. Patrick’s Day birthday card for my sister.  I mean who doesn’t love a great shaker card?  If you missed my card from yesterday you can check it out here.  This card will be for my twin sister again because our birthday is on St. Patrick’s day (lucky us) and I always try to incorporate green into our cards. IF you’ve missed any of my other shaker cards, you can find them here.

For my card today I’m pulling out all the stops.  Overload of green and sequins?  Yes, please.  This card was super easy to create and would be perfect for spring as well.  I mean look at all that beautiful green on this card!! 🍀 I’m in love with this color combination of twisted citron, mowed lawn and lucky clover distress oxide inks.

Working My Green With A St. Patrick’s Day Deco Foil Birthday Card

March 9, 2019

Hey peeps.  I’m working my green today making a St. Patrick’s Day Deco Foil card.  My birthday is on St. Patrick’s day and it’s a special on this year because my twin and I are turning 50!  Yes we made it to this fabulous age and I couldn’t be happier.  You see when I turned 40 I was diagnosed with colon cancer.  It was the scariest time of my life and for my family.  We were so fortunate that the cancer was easily removed and I am almost 10 years cancer free.

Anyway back to the St. Patrick’s Day card for my sister. I started with a beautiful blend of distress oxide inks for my background.  Next I added some splattered gold splatter to the background as well.  Wanting to pull in some beautiful gold foil on my card, so I grabbed my deco foil foam adhesive sheets and foil sheets and got busy.

My completed card looked great with all the gold and green.  Perfect for St. Patrick’s Day. You can see more of the deco foil in action on this video I made during my holiday card series.

Valentine’s Day Card Series 2019 – Day 5 and a GIVEAWAY

February 1, 2019

Hey peeps.  I’m back with the final day of my Valentine’s Day Card Series 2019 and a giveaway.  And of course I have a tutorial today. I want to thank everyone who have commented on my blog and subscribed during this series.  I appreciate your kindness and support.  For my card today I did a little bit of ink blending inspired by Kristina Werner.

First I pulled out my my dried marigold, worn lipstick and seedless preserves oxide inks  to start blending that color on some 80 lb Neenah Solar White card stock.  I knew by using this color combination I would end up with a very pretty Valentine’s Day Card.

Next I stamped the top and bottom borders with the beautiful cascading hearts from the Concord and 9th Little Love Tags stamp set.  I heat embossed the hearts with white embossing powder.  I pulled out one of the sentiments in this stamp set and heat embossed it in white as well on the front of the card panel.

To finish up the card I placed this panel on a 110lb Neenah Solar White card base and added a few clear droplets to mimic additional water splashes.  I just love love, love how this card turned out.  You can easily mass produce this is card with so many pretty colors for Valentine’s Day.

Here’s a quick tutorial.  You can watch it here or over at my Youtube channel mzdanajoy.  I’ve used affiliate links for your convenience at no cost to you.

I will be giving away a $20 gift certificate to Concord & 9th so you too can make something special for your love ones.  It would be great if you followed me on my social media accounts listed below and leave me a comment letting me know how you show your loved one how much they mean to you.  Winner will be announced Sunday Feb 3rd on my Instagram page. Thanks for stopping by today and I’ll see you back here.

Let's mix things up on our next Valentine's Day Ca Let's mix things up on our next Valentine's Day Cards. I'm using two products I don't think I've ever used together before. Hot foil plates and stencils for the win! I have two very different color palettes today that aren't your traditional red and pink cards.

I do have a favorite out of these two cards. Can you guess which one? Check out the tutorial to see just how easy these cards were to put together. (link in bio)

Morning everyone. It's another day for valentine c Morning everyone. It's another day for valentine cards. In today's tutorial I made a trio of valentine cards from one background. This was so easy and so much fun to make. Where are my Distress Oxide Spray lovers?

With three colors of @tim_holtz Distress Oxide Sprays these cards were created. I don't have all the sprays and are "collecting" them little by little. The fear of using these sprays have been unleashed. 😂😂😂 After watching more and more videos from Tim, my nervousness of "messing it up" has been replaced by "oh that's so pretty".

By using just two die cuts from products from the January 2023 release from @heroarts

The link for the tutorial is in the bio and I hope I inspire you to start creating your Valentine's Day Cards.

The January 2023 release for @ginakdesigns is now The January 2023 release for @ginakdesigns is now available. The Terrific Textures stamp designed by @melaniemuenchinger was so much fun to play with.

I stamped the image several times in different color inks from Gina K. Designs. The colors are Passionate Pink, Wild Dandelion, Key Lime, Lucky Clover and Ocean Mist. Next I filled in the area using my W-G 7 @olomarker to change the paper from white to this pretty warm gray color.

While I was stamping the images, I made sure to leave a section blank where I could place my Happy Birthday sentiment. This was such a great card to great.
