Shaker Card – Shaking Up My St. Patrick’s Day Birthday Card

March 9, 2019

Hey peeps.  As promised I’m shaking up my St. Patrick’s Day birthday card for my sister.  I mean who doesn’t love a great shaker card?  If you missed my card from yesterday you can check it out here.  This card will be for my twin sister again because our birthday is on St. Patrick’s day (lucky us) and I always try to incorporate green into our cards. IF you’ve missed any of my other shaker cards, you can find them here.

For my card today I’m pulling out all the stops.  Overload of green and sequins?  Yes, please.  This card was super easy to create and would be perfect for spring as well.  I mean look at all that beautiful green on this card!! 🍀 I’m in love with this color combination of twisted citron, mowed lawn and lucky clover distress oxide inks.

Working My Green With A St. Patrick’s Day Deco Foil Birthday Card

March 9, 2019

Hey peeps.  I’m working my green today making a St. Patrick’s Day Deco Foil card.  My birthday is on St. Patrick’s day and it’s a special on this year because my twin and I are turning 50!  Yes we made it to this fabulous age and I couldn’t be happier.  You see when I turned 40 I was diagnosed with colon cancer.  It was the scariest time of my life and for my family.  We were so fortunate that the cancer was easily removed and I am almost 10 years cancer free.

Anyway back to the St. Patrick’s Day card for my sister. I started with a beautiful blend of distress oxide inks for my background.  Next I added some splattered gold splatter to the background as well.  Wanting to pull in some beautiful gold foil on my card, so I grabbed my deco foil foam adhesive sheets and foil sheets and got busy.

My completed card looked great with all the gold and green.  Perfect for St. Patrick’s Day. You can see more of the deco foil in action on this video I made during my holiday card series.

Valentine’s Day Card Series 2019 – Day 5 and a GIVEAWAY

February 1, 2019

Hey peeps.  I’m back with the final day of my Valentine’s Day Card Series 2019 and a giveaway.  And of course I have a tutorial today. I want to thank everyone who have commented on my blog and subscribed during this series.  I appreciate your kindness and support.  For my card today I did a little bit of ink blending inspired by Kristina Werner.

First I pulled out my my dried marigold, worn lipstick and seedless preserves oxide inks  to start blending that color on some 80 lb Neenah Solar White card stock.  I knew by using this color combination I would end up with a very pretty Valentine’s Day Card.

Next I stamped the top and bottom borders with the beautiful cascading hearts from the Concord and 9th Little Love Tags stamp set.  I heat embossed the hearts with white embossing powder.  I pulled out one of the sentiments in this stamp set and heat embossed it in white as well on the front of the card panel.

To finish up the card I placed this panel on a 110lb Neenah Solar White card base and added a few clear droplets to mimic additional water splashes.  I just love love, love how this card turned out.  You can easily mass produce this is card with so many pretty colors for Valentine’s Day.

Here’s a quick tutorial.  You can watch it here or over at my Youtube channel mzdanajoy.  I’ve used affiliate links for your convenience at no cost to you.

I will be giving away a $20 gift certificate to Concord & 9th so you too can make something special for your love ones.  It would be great if you followed me on my social media accounts listed below and leave me a comment letting me know how you show your loved one how much they mean to you.  Winner will be announced Sunday Feb 3rd on my Instagram page. Thanks for stopping by today and I’ll see you back here.

MFT January 2019 Release – Lots of Hearts Stencil And Cutieasaurs Stamp Set

January 9, 2019

Hey peeps.  I’m back today to share more inspiration using the MFT January 2019 release.  I have two cards to share with you.  There is so much love going on in this release and I’m smitten with it.  So let’s get right into the cards.

For my first card I used the Lots of Hearts and Lots of Hearts Outlines die cuts along with the gorgeous new Sweet Stack 6×6 paper pad.  These two dies work seamlessly together however you can use them separately and create some amazing cards.  To pull this card together, I adhered some of the pretty paper from the Sweet Stack to pink and red fun foam. Next I die cut out a few of the solid hearts and three of the heart outlines.  I die cut out the heart outlines in sparkly silver glitter paper as I thought it would look nice framing out a few of the red hearts.

For my sentiment I used the the Happy Valentine’s Day from the Sassy Pants Love stamp set.  I stamped it on black card stock in versa mark and heat embossed it in silver embossing powder. I cut them into a thin stripe to add it to my smooth white card base.  I arranged several of the hearts along the bottom of my card and added a few sparkling black gems to fill in some of the areas between the hearts.

For my second card I used the Lots of Hearts stencil and the absolutely adorable Cutieasaurs stamp set.  OMG this stamp set is just precious and it goes amazingly well with the hearts stencil.  I first stenciled my hearts in Abandoned Coral distress ink keeping the outer edges lighter than the center.  Next I used two dies from the Stitched Rectangle Stax 2 dies to add a stitched border and a piece I could pop up in the center.  Die cutting the center on an angle gave the panel some interest.  I added some clear Wink Of Stella to a few of the hearts for some sparkle.

I set this aside  and stamped out the cute dinosaur and some grass pieces on Copic Xpress paper in black ink.  I colored each of the images in Copic markers and added some Wink of Stella to the hearts on the dinosaur.  I die cut out each image with the coordinating Cutieasaurs die-namics.  To add my sentiment I used the You Make My Heart Saur sentiment from the Cutieasaurs stamp set, stamped it on black card stock and heat embossed it with white embossing powder.   Assembling my card I adhered the outline of the popped up piece to a card base.  I used foam tape to pop up the center of this card panel and also popped up the dinosaur, grass and sentiment. To finish off the card I added a few sparkling sequins.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I’ll see you back here tomorrow for more card inspiration.  Have a great day.

Crafty hugs,

Dana

Morning everyone. I'm on the @heroarts blog today Morning everyone. I'm on the @heroarts blog today sharing two bookmarks I made using products from the new Mix Media release. These bookmarks were so easy to create and I love the colorful style of them.

I truly hope we are inspiring you with our projects using the items from the release. I remember a time I used to be scared to do mix media. Now it's so easy for me to create without fear. Mix media is just using more than one medium on your projects and I've been doing that forever. LOL

Woo hoo the @ginakdesigns May release is now live. Woo hoo the @ginakdesigns May release is now live. I made a card using the Fearless Flyers stamp set along with pretty colors of Gina K. Designs inks.

This card was so easy to pull together with a quick cloud and grass stencil. For added texture, I used Copic markers to add flicks that look like blades of grass. Definately one you could easily mass produce.

Had a chance to play with products I order from @s Had a chance to play with products I order from @simonsaysstamp a few weeks ago. What better way to enjoy the day with rainbow colors on a card.
Easy ink blending with distress oxides and a little bit of heat embossing did the trick.

The @simonsaysstamp Yay You release is now life. I The @simonsaysstamp Yay You release is now life. I had the chance to play with the new You Did It waver die. This die is the perfect size for an A2 size card panel. With happy rainbow pattern paper I die cut the sentiment for my card. I used the same paper to keep the rainbow theme working on my card.

Having the paper match really gives my card a cohesive look. Adding a small sub-sentiment and a touch of gold finished off my card nicely. This is the perfect die for our upcoming graduates. Head on over to the Simon Says Stamp store to grab this die cut and other items from the release.
