Happy Sunday and Happy December 1st from Midvale, UT! My name is Susan R. Opel, and I’m taking over Dana’s blog to share in the fun of Dana’s Got Joy Creations Holiday Series for 2019. I’ve had the pleasure of hanging out with Dana in person, so when she asked if I wanted to participate, I was all like, “sign me up!” I love the connectivity in this industry, and I love how my two jobs working as Editor-in-Chief forScrapbook & Cards Today magazine and as Social Engagement Coordinator for Simon Says Stamp allow me to meet creative types from all over the world.
I have been a part of the craft industry since 2008 when I quit teaching and started a new career as an editor for Paper Crafts magazine. In those 11 years, I have nurtured relationships with a wide range of manufacturers and designers from all over the world giving me the unofficial title of Fairy Cardmother. We have new discount code to share with you today.

When it comes to Christmas cards, I tend to lean far more to the Jesus birth side than the Santa side (no offense, Santa). So when I saw this spectacular Heavenly Angel stamp from Hero Arts, I knew I wanted to create something sacred.
The super dark blue came next when I was concepting this design, and I felt like it would be perfect to mimic the dark sky of Bethlehem on the night when Jesus was born, and the glitter cardstock behind the Avery Elle Oval Burst die not only allows the angel to pop, it also sparkles like the star. Gold heat embossing and gold vellum add to the sophisticated vibe of this card design, and some gold sequins add even more sparkle, which is pretty much my fave. And of course, the sentiment from the Hero Arts Winter Holiday Messages stamp set is the perfect choice for my angelic card! Below is the supply list I used for this card.
One thing I love about card making is being inspired, and when I went to color my angel, I chose colors from the angels painted on the ceiling in my church in Michigan. I remember looking up at those chubby little cherubs when I was just a little girl. Such soft, yet majestic colors!
The GJC Holiday Card Series runs from November 17 to December 14. Each day Dana will have a Guest Designer right here on the blog sharing their holiday card ideas just like I did here today. Hopefully you will find something to inspire you to create holiday cards for your family and friends this year. Follow along on her YouTube Channel and make sure you leave comments on each designer’s posts or videos for chances to win. Thanks so much for having me, Dana! And Merry Christmas to you all!
