Hey everyone. It’s Erica from CaCaCraft by Erica here with you. Today I’m taking over Dana’s blog and Youtube channel to share in the fun of Dana’s Got Joy Creations Holiday Series for 2019. I’m so excited to be taking part in this series and sharing the joy of crafting with you all. I have been creative in one way or another most of my life, but card making has been my main love for the last 13+ years now. I’m married to a really wonderful guy and we have two sweet little rescue dogs. We also recently moved to Valencia in Spain which might mean a very sunny Christmas. As a native Swede I am not used to that at all. Loving it, though. Besides being a crafty nerd, I am also a sun worshipper so no complaints from me!
Enough about me, back tothe cardmaking! Make sure you are following this series for amazing holiday inspiration, giveaways, discount codes and don’t forget to leave a comment below to qualify all the giveaways. There will also be tutorials and cards shared by Dana as well and she will have a few surprises to share with you!
I have gone for a reindeer, snow and Northern Lights card. Being Swedish those are key ingredients for Christmas. One of my favourite Christmas stamp sets is Merry Everything from MFT Stamps. I went all out and stamped up all of the images apart from the bubbles/snowballs on Neenah #110 card stock. All of them are coloured in with Copics, check out the video for some of the colouring. I didn’t film everything because, you know.. it’s colouring and we don’t have all day, lol.
The background is done with Picket Fence Studios Life Changing Blender Brushes and Distress Oxide inks, on Strathmore Bristol Vellum paper. The inks used are Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron, Salty Ocean, Blueprint Sketch, Faded Jeans, Wilted Violets and Black Soot.
Naturally, I had to add white and gold splatters on it too. Because that’s what you do. Right? I absolutely love this effect and am not likely to be stopping it anytime soon.
The splatters are done with some whitepaint and white gold from Starry Color watercolor palette. This is my go-to for gold splatters. It has a range of gold colours from white gold to red gold, so you know there will be one that will work fab with your project. No matter what colours you are using.
Other products I have used include WOW! Embossing pad and Puff Powder, Everyday Sentiment Banners, Stitched Hillside Borders and glue tube from Lawn Fawn, foam sheets and foam pads. I wanted a snow-covered hill for my snowman, sleigh and reindeer, and created that using these products. I used the hill diecut on the card stock, dabbed the WOW! Embossing ink pad on it, very generously, and then sprinkled the Puff Powder all over it. After using the heat gun to activate it, it was so lovely and textured! It really does create some fab faux snow.
The sentiments are stamped in black ink on white card stock, then diecut those out using some banner dies. These I added to the parcel filled sleigh before adding to the card. Looking at it now, I’m thinking I should have added Glossy Accent to the reindeer noses, the bells and the sleigh runners to make them pop a bit more. But you gotta stop somewhere, right??
That’s it from me for this time. I hope you have enjoyed this post and video, if you watched that. Lots of love and happy crafting from EricaIf you want to see more from me, you can find me on various social media. Pop by and say hello!
