Easy Birthday Cards for Men – Plus 5K Subscriber Video Hop

Welcome to a video hop celebrating 3 of our friends – Ardyth, Kathya*, and Jenny. They all recently reached 5k subscribers here on YouTube, so they are co-hosting a hop full of happy cards to celebrate! For my card, I needed to stock up on birthday cards for men as I’m always low on these in my stash. I pulled out some simple products where I can easily mass produce these cards. Using quality pattern paper and a few dies, you can rest assured that these cards will arrive in the mail with love! The supplies I used for the cards are listed below. I also have a video for you sharing how easy this card was.

Masculine Card With Brea Reese Alcohol Inks

Hey peeps. I’m back with another masculine card with Brea Reese alcohol inks. I know many of us struggle with making masculine cards. I’m trying to break that cycle and make at least one masculine card a week so I have plenty on hand when I need them. Making masculine cards with Brea Reese alcohol inks is quick and easy.

For today’s card I wanted to add lots of texture to my card for a really cool look. First I applied three darks colors of ink onto 110lb card stock with a blending tool. Next I came back in with a piece of felt wrapped around the edge of a straight ruler and laid down a few irregular stripes with yellow, red and green inks. This gave a great color variation. Once this panel was dried I ran it through my die cutting machine with an embossing folder. I have done this technique before and I always love how it looks.

Keeping this card clean and simple, I die cut out a quick thanks sentiment from Simon Says Stamp using brown and yellow card stock. Next I stamped out a sentiment from the Thankful Heart stamp set also from Simon Says Stamp and heat embossed it in gold embossing powder. I trimmed that piece down to form a small banner I could pop under the thanks die cut. I also swiped on a small amount of gold alcohol over there raised areas of the background. To finish off the card I adhered it to a yellow card base.

I’m so happy with the way this card turned out. What’s so amazing with the Brea Reese alcohol inks, the variations of backgrounds are endless. Here’s a close up of this stunning card. You can click on my Brea Reese Alcohol Inks link to see more projects from me.

Alcohol Ink Textured Background – Let’s Go Masculine Today

Hey peeps. I’m back sharing a masculine alcohol ink textured background. Whew say that three times fast.😂 These types of alcohol ink backgrounds are super easy to make. Running these backgrounds through an embossing folder really plays up the color and design. Let me show you the project I have for you today.

Masculine Alcohol Ink Background

As you know I love playing with the Brea Reese alcohol inks. The colors are gorgeous and really easy to work with. You can see other projects I’ve made by clicking the Brea Reese link here on my blog. Usually I would use the watercolor paper from Brea Reese however this time I used regular Neenah Solar White 110 lb card stock for my background.

To achieve this look I added the ink to a piece of felt and ran it back and forth over the paper. Achieving that beautiful almost leather-like feel I mixed cadmium red, cadmium yellow and orange inks together. I kept going back and forth over the paper until the colors blended into each other creating that brown leather look. For an added pop of color I swiped over the entire piece with turquoise. Adding some fine gold mist was the last step before I set the paper aside until it was dried completely.

The next day I pulled out a weave pattern embossing folder and ran the panel through my Gemini Jr. machine to create this very masculine texture. The pressure from the embossing folder also helped to flatten out my panel. Up close it really does look like leather. I didn’t want to add too much to this card so a simple sentiment of thanks and a white card base completed this card.
