November 20, 2019

Hello, everyone. It’s Kari VanNoy from www.SunshineInMyPocket.com here with you and I’m taking over Dana’s blog and Youtube channel today for Dana’s Got Joy Creations Holiday Series 2019. Let me introduce myself to you. I love mirrored side tables, small crystal chandeliers, and drinking ice water out of goblets. Also close to my heart are graphic design, baking, cooking, crafting, drawing as well as calligraphy. My absolute favorite thing ever is to make something extra special and deliver it to someone who needs cheering up or could use a surprise gift {who couldn’t, really?}

Make sure you are following this series for amazing holiday inspiration, giveaways, discount codes and don’t forget to leave a comment below to qualify all the giveaways. There will also be tutorials and cards shared by Dana as well and she will have a few surprises to share with you!

Today I have a fun holiday card for you featuring a little hedgehog friend visiting Santa. This card is filled with lots of foil shine and glittery goodness…everything a that makes holiday card extra special, right!?

I have a video showing you how I put this card together, as well as lots of tips on adding snow, glitter (that doesn’t come off!) and even foil shortcuts. Watch it below or on YouTube.

Aren’t these critters cute?! I colored them up very quickly with Copic Markers. Don’t worry about making the coloring perfect, there is so much detail and glitter and shine on this card that will delight your recipient!

I hope this card put a smile on your face today! I have a list below of all the supplies, if you are interested.

The GJC Holiday Card Series runs from November 17 to December 14. Each day Dana will have a Guest Designer right here on the blog sharing their holiday card ideas just like I did here today. Holiday Card Series 2019 Day 3 – Concord & 9th

November 19, 2019

Hey everyone.  It’s Day 3 of the Holiday Card Series. I am your host today. I hope you are enjoying the series so far and you are getting inspired by our guest designers.  Today’s cards feature products from Concord and 9th.  Concord and 9th is a company I adore.  Their products are amazing and so creative.   The owner Angie is one the sweetest people I know.  I love her dedication to the crafting community and supporting crafters is genuine.  Thank you Angie for supporting me again this year. Let’s get into the tutorial.

For my first card I used the Stocking Stuffers stamps and dies from Concord & 9th to make a cute stocking card with a colorful snowflake background.  This card was super easy to pull together and I love the color combos on this one.

Concord & 9th Stocking Stuffers

To tone down the brightness of my background panel I used a sheet of vellum.

For my second card I used the Merry Shapes stamp set and die. These stamp and die combo make very clean and simple cards that WOW your recipients.  Keeping the card to just two colors really lets the image stand out.  Repeating a pattern across a card is a simple way to mass produce your holiday cards.  I stamped the image first with Versamark ink on navy card stock.  I heat embossed the images with gold embossing powder.  Next I die cut out image with the coordinating die.  Setting these pieces aside I began to work on the sentiment.

Concord and 9th Merry Shapes

Keeping with the clean and simple look I stamped the sentiment on navy card stock, heat embossed it in gold embossing powder and glued into onto a strip of gold foil paper. Now it was time to put my card together. Starting with a white card base, I layered on navy card stock.  To bring in some gold I pulled out my neutral foil pack and used the gold paper so I could layer another piece of navy car stock on top. I adhered my die cut shapes across this panel with foam tape and trimmed down the extra bits hanging off the sides.  For the sentiment, I popped it up with foam tape as well.

This panel was now ready to for the card base. To finish off the card I glued down a few flat back sequins on several of the open circle areas on the card.  Super easy card to make multiples of.  I’ve linked the products below that I used on these cards.  Thanks for stopping by today. See you back here soon.

Holiday Card Series 2019 Day 2 – Guest Designer Amy Young

November 18, 2019

Good morning, Amy Young here with you and today I’m taking over Dana’s blog to share in the fun of Dana’s Got Joy Creations Holiday Series for 2019. You’ll want to be sure you follow this series over the next few weeks for amazing holiday inspiration from all of the talented card artists Dana has invited to join.

As a card maker nothing brings me more joy than using my stamps and Copic markers to create scenes no matter the season. Though I will admit that winter scenes can be some of the most fun scenes to do. I love for each of my cards to tell a story and holiday stories are always guaranteed to bring a smile.

For my card today I chose a mix of old and new stamps from Purple Onion Designs to tell the story of little Red, the lumberjack beaver, and his robin pal, Silver, going in search of the perfect Christmas tree. On many of my cards I enjoy the challenge of coloring in backgrounds from scratch but when awesome background stamps like the new Winter Trail are available it makes the whole process quicker and easier, who doesn’t love that?

So I stamped the bundled up critters first, masked them both off using removable post it tape, then stamped the large background right over top of them. Once the tape it peeled away they now look like they are residing within the scene. To complete my vision of these cute holiday revelers I still ended up free handing in the felled Christmas tree but I think it fits in pretty seamlessly with the rest of the stamped images. All Redand Silver have to do now is figure out how to get that darn tree back up the hill, LOL!
