It’s the Simon Says Stamp Crafty Hugs Release Day – Peony Bouquet. I’m thrilled to be sharing products from this release and even more excited to share what I made. Today’s card is featuring the new Peony Bouquet stamp. Oh the pretty cards I made for your inspiration today. I have three cards to share each done with a different coloring medium. I’ll discuss each medium as I go through my cards. Are you excited? Let’s discuss my first card. The Simon Says Stamp Crafty Hugs release is amazing and you’re going to love it!
For my first card I immediately knew I wanted to watercolor the image with my Karin Watercolor markers. To begin I pulled out my watercolor paper and trimmed it down to 5 1/2 to 7 1/2. I prefer to keep my paper larger than I need so I can trim it down later. I stamped the image in antique linen distress ink so I could do no-line watercoloring. Next I simply added just a little bit of marker around the image and pulled the color in using a small paintbrush. To add interest to the colors, I made sure to use more than one shade of red, green and yellow. Once I was finished coloring I trimmed down my piece to fit a 5×7 card, added a hugs sentiment and a few clear sequins.
My second card is probably my favorite as it’s so striking. For this card I stamped the image in white pigment ink onto artagain black card stock. I made sure to heat set this image before I went any further. Next I pulled out my Caran d’Ache Luminance colored pencils and started coloring. Using the white pigment ink under the color pencil really makes the color of the pencil pop! It’s so beautiful to see come to life. To finished off the card, I stamped and heat embossed a simple birthday sentiment, added a few white faux stitches around the border of the card with my white gelli roll pen and for added interest, I added some highlights with the white pen in select areas on the flowers. This card was mounted onto a 5×7 card base.
Now for my last card, I wanted this one to be bright and happy. To achieve this look I pulled out my Copic Markers. I stamped the image first in Gina K. Designs whisper ink. To create a focal point I only colored one of the flowers with shades of yellow and green Copic Markers. It’s hard to see in the photo however the other flowers are very faint on the card panel. To add some texture I pulled out my polychromo pencils to add in some shading. I stamped a simple hello sentiment, added a few sequins, backed the flower panel with grout card stock and placed it onto an 4.25 x 5.50 card base.
