Hero Arts Bold Geometric Bee Pattern

January 27, 2021

Hey  everyone. Back again sharing a card using products from the Hero Arts January 2021 release. My card today is featuring the Geometric Bee Pattern Bold Print background stamp.  This stamp is so sharp! I absolutely love the graphic look of this design for a background.

I made sure to really bring out a striking style for this card. Using bright yellow, black and white fully allowed the design to stand front and center. I stamped the image with black ink on half the panel and Veramark on the other half. I them heat set this panel with clear embossing powder.

Hero Arts Geometric Bee Pattern

Once it was cool I sponged on Lemon Drop Ink over the entire panel adding in hints of Butter Bar ink as well.  I trimmed down this panel so I could add a black backer to this piece. Before placing the backer on. I die cut the center of the image with one of the dies from the Hexagon Infinity die set. Next I die cut the next size up hexagon to create a base from the smaller hexagon.

Placing the first panel on black cardstock I popped up the hexagon black panel in the center of the design making sure to keep the design in the right direction. For a touch of whimsy I placed a colored bee from the Bee The Queen stamp set along with a sentiment which was fussy cut.

Applying this to a Side Folding Dove White Card and this little beauty was complete. I love how this card turned out using the Geometric Bee Pattern stamp set and I hope you enjoyed your visit today.  I’ll see you back here soon.

Hero Arts Abstract Honeycomb

January 24, 2021

Hey everyone.  Welcome back. I’m playing with the Abstract Honeycomb Bold Print stamp from Hero Arts today. I love a great background stamp and this one is beautiful. Let’s see how this card came together.

I wanted the card to have texture so I decided not to have my inks blended perfectly.  Dabbing on some distress oxide inks in Candied Apple, Worn Lipstick and Seedless Preserves was the first task. I made sure to overlap each color just a little bit. I spritz the background stamp lightly with water and pressed it down on Dove White card stock.

Setting this panel aside I stared to work on the sentiment.  I stamped a sentiment from the Bee and Flowers Wreathe stamp set in black ink and fussy cut it out with my scissors.  Next I used the Hexagon Infinity dies to make a gold frame for my sentiment. I decided to go with gold for a pop of shine.

Going back to my colorful panel, I adhered it to a black piece of card stock and placed it on a side folding card also from Hero Arts. I popped up my sentiment on foam tape and placed the gold frame around it.

To bring in just a touch more of gold, I added on some gold baubles around the card. I had so much fun creating this card. I’m going to give it a go again in different colors. What colors would you like to see next for the Abstract Honeycomb stamp? Leave me a comment below and I’ll give it a try.  Have a great day everyone and I’ll see you back here again this week with more card inspiration.

Alcohol Ink Textured Background – Let’s Go Masculine Today

August 7, 2019

Hey peeps.  I’m back sharing a masculine alcohol ink textured background. Whew say that three times fast.😂 These types of alcohol ink backgrounds are super easy to make.  Running these backgrounds through an embossing folder really plays up the color and design.  Let me show you the project I have for you today.

Masculine Alcohol Ink Background

As you know I love playing with the Brea Reese alcohol inks.  The colors are gorgeous and really easy to work with.  You can see other projects I’ve made by clicking the Brea Reese link here on my blog. Usually I would use the watercolor paper from Brea Reese however this time I used regular Neenah Solar White 110 lb card stock for my background.

To achieve this look I added the ink to a piece of felt and ran it back and forth over the paper.  Achieving that beautiful almost leather-like feel I mixed cadmium red, cadmium yellow and orange inks together.  I kept going back and forth over the paper until the colors blended into each other creating that brown leather look.  For an added pop of color I swiped over the entire piece with turquoise. Adding some fine gold mist was the last step before I set the paper aside until it was dried completely.

Masculine Alcohol Ink Background

The next day I pulled out a weave pattern embossing folder and ran the panel through my Gemini Jr. machine to create this very masculine texture.  The pressure from the embossing folder also helped to flatten out my panel.  Up close it really does look like leather. I didn’t want to add too much to this card so a simple sentiment of thanks and a white card base completed this card.

Brea Reese Alcohol Ink Techniques – Let The Happiness Begin

May 16, 2019

Hey everyone.  I’m sharing Brea Reese alcohol ink techniques – let the happiness begin.  I had the opportunity to have some of these inks sent to me for review.  I also purchased a few additional colors on my own along with the Brea Reese waterproof paper.  These Brea Reese inks are very vibrant and work fabulously on the Brea Reese waterproof panels and the waterproof paper.  To me these inks seem to blend easier than other alcohol inks and they work beautifully with other inks as well.

Let me share a few of the projects I made with these inks before we get into the tutorial.  In the tutorial I share you will see several Brea Reese alcohol ink techniques that I hope inspire you to grab some and play. You will see in the tutorial how easy these pieces came together and how quickly you can make stunning backgrounds and sentiments for your next set of cards. To see another project I made using these inks check out this posts.

Morning everyone. It's another day for valentine c Morning everyone. It's another day for valentine cards. In today's tutorial I made a trio of valentine cards from one background. This was so easy and so much fun to make. Where are my Distress Oxide Spray lovers?

With three colors of @tim_holtz Distress Oxide Sprays these cards were created. I don't have all the sprays and are "collecting" them little by little. The fear of using these sprays have been unleashed. 😂😂😂 After watching more and more videos from Tim, my nervousness of "messing it up" has been replaced by "oh that's so pretty".

By using just two die cuts from products from the January 2023 release from @heroarts

The link for the tutorial is in the bio and I hope I inspire you to start creating your Valentine's Day Cards.
