Hey crafty friends, this is Ashley Tucker and today I am taking over Dana’s blog! What do you guys think of the Holiday Card series so far? There have been some amazing cards and so much inspiration! I have a card to share with you today featuring a beautiful background stamp. For those of you who find coloring relaxing and therapeutic this card is perfect for you!
Now I am the kind of person that loves to color but, when it comes to coloring this intense, I really have to be in the mood. When I sat down to create this card I was in the mood for some coloring. So, I put on some Netflix (watching The Office for the umpteenth time), grabbed a coke, and picked out a detailed background stamp.
The Winter Floral Mix background stamp from Simon Says Stamp is an awesome Christmas themed stamp that is great for when you want to color. I stamped it using my Misti Tool onto some Neenah Solar White cardstock. I used Gina K Designs jet black amalgam ink, which is a wonderful Copic friendly ink.
For the coloring I used my Copic markers. Check out this Copic map to see all the colors I used!
Once the coloring was done, I trimmed it to be slightly smaller than 3.75×5. I wanted a tiny white border around the edge, so I matted the panel onto a piece of white cardstock which was cut to be 3.75×5. I created an A2 card base out of Simon Says Stamp peacock teal cardstock and popped up the colored in background onto that with foam tape.
I really wanted to keep the sentiment simple for this card so that the focus could be the coloring. I decided to use the Joyful Frame die from Simon Says Stamp. I love the very clean typography on this die set. I cut the background piece from metallic silver cardstock, and the word square from white cardstock. I glued them together and then adhered them to my card.
I hope you enjoyed this card design! Be sure to check out the rest of the Holiday Card series here on Dana’s blog and over on her YouTube channel. If you want to see more cards from me, I will post my social media links. Be sure to stop by and say hello!
