Beautiful Watercoloring With Hero Arts Moon Goddess

February 21, 2022

Hey everyone. I’m excited to share today’s tutorial with you. I love the Hero Arts Moon Goddess for beautiful watercoloring. Using liquid watercolors helps me to expand my palette easily. You can mix colors right on a glass mat to the strength or lightness you want depending on how much water you use.

For today’s card my liquid watercolors really came in handy. Being able to create a custom color to my liking was key with the background of this card.

Liquid Watercolor

By heat embossing the image, I was also able to control the placement of the watercolor without it going into areas I didn’t want it to flow to. Remember heat embossing locks in each line to a little well that keeps the color in that area.

I mean this card gives me all the watercolor feels. Absolutely love how it turned out.

You can watch the tutorial here or you can catch it on my Youtube channel mzdanajoy. Affiliate links are used at no cost to you.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope I’ve inspired you to pull out your Hero Arts Liquid watercolors and play. You can achieve beautiful watercoloring with the Hero Arts Moon Goddess stamp.

Spotlight Watercoloring

February 10, 2022

It’s so easy to create a beautiful spotlight on your card. Todays’ tutorial will show you how to create that gorgeous focal point by heat embossing, taping off your area to spotlight and simple watercoloring.  You can create this style of design with any background stamp and medium.

Easy watercoloring in layers makes this card so beautiful. When playing your tape, make sure it is adhered well to your paper to make sure water doesn’t get underneath where you don’t want to get color.

Remember this style of design can be used with any background stamp and any medium.

You can watch the tutorial here or over on my Youtube channel. Affiliate links have been used at no cost to you,

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you have enjoyed the tutorial. I’ll be back with another tutorial soon.

My Monthly Hero February 2022

February 7, 2022

Welcome to the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero for February 2022. You should have arrived here fro Channin’s blog. Surrealism design is a 20th-century avant-garde movement in art and literature which sought to release the creative potential of the unconscious mind, for example by the irrational juxtaposition of images. The My Monthly Hero February 2022 captures that design entirely.

For my card I went with a beautiful and simple design to pull your eye into the center of the card. Before I get ahead of myself, let me show you what you get in this month’s kit. Our February My Monthly Hero release was inspired by the art of the Surrealist masters and the magical imagery of dreams. Let your imagination soar with the playful drawings as you arrange your own creative scenes. There are nine different messages to include on your card or project, and the kit is rounded out with black watercolor paper, a water brush, and a custom Daniel Smith watercolor paint palette.

My Monthly Hero February 2022

Kit Includes:
• 6” x 8” Clear Stamp Set
• 15 Coordinating Frame Cuts
• 2 Sheets of Black Watercolor Paper (5.5″ x 8.5″)
• Watercolor Dot Dream Palette (18 Dots)
• Water Flow Brush
Kit Value: $75
Kit Cost: $34.99

Pre-order your kit today – we estimate kit shipping will begin Friday, February 11th and continue throughout the following week. Also don’t forget the kit subscription you can do each month.

Okay back to my card. Compared to yesterday’s sneak peek card, you can totally see how you can take this kit from dark and moody to light and airy. Pairing the  kit with the new Star Branches stencil was a fun addition. And I kept the background soft by using light pressure while stenciling with Hero Arts Soft Brown ink.

In the kit you will receive a waterbrush. I have a tendency to gravitate to watercolor brushes that I can dip in water since I feel like I have more control. However, having the waterbrush that contains the water, makes it easy cardmaking.

The watercolors I used for this card were Permanent Red, Mayan Yellow, Green Gold, Manganese Blue Hue, Ultra Marine Red, Rose Madder Permanent and Iridescent Gold.

A tutorial is available showing how to make this card. You can check it out here on the blog or over on my Youtube channel.

For the bonus card, I used the new Hero Arts Looking Glass Hot Air Balloons dies. These layering dies make card making so much fun. They become the focal point on your card with simple die cutting. I blended a piece of Hero Arts Dove White cardstock with Hero Arts Pool Party Reactive Ink. Next I die cut the Looking Glass Hot Air Balloons out of dove white cardstock. The backdrop for the hot air balloons was ink blended using Lemon Drop and Taffy reactive inks.

I used a nesting square pierced die to add a from for the hot air balloons. To finish off the card, I stamped a sentiment from the Hero Arts You Sparkle stamp set in Hero Arts Inten-sified Black ink. The colorful panel was adhered to a piece of Hero Arts Pitch Black cardstock and placed on a top folding Hero Arts card base.

And lastly for added interest, I added some dots using a size 10 white gelly roll pen. A simple yet fun card.

Let’s talk giveaways. We will give away a $50 gift card, drawn from the comments left across the hop. Enter by Sunday, February 13th at 11:59pm Pacific, and the winner will be announced on the Hero Arts blog the following week. Next on the blog is Daniel. Have a great day everyone and I’ll see you back here soon.

My Monthly Hero February 2022 Countdown

February 4, 2022

Hey everyone. It’s countdown time for the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero February 2022 kit. If you love surrealism design then this kit is a must have. My sneak peek card was watercolored using metallic shimmer watercolor paint (NOT INCLUDED IN THE KIT). This paint is spectacular on black cardstock. You can also achieve this look with Hero Arts Glimmer Metallic Inks.

First I stamped the image on the new Hero Arts black watercolor paper and heat embossed it in Hero Arts Gold Embossing powder.

Starting with the inside of the door, I rainbow watercolored the image using a size 2 watercolor brushes. Once it was dried, I die cut it out with the coordinating dies in the kit.

Keeping the gorgeous watercolor going, I created a background with the same colors on black watercolor paper. I have to say, I fan girled myself with this card. I absolutely LOVE how it turned out. If you would like to see a tutorial on how to create this card yourself, let me know and I can get a tutorial going for you. Can’t wait for you to see more of the kit on Monday. The kit is available at 1:00 PM EST Monday February 7, 2022.  I’ll see you back here then for a new card, tutorial and bonus card.

Have a great day everyone.

Altenew Paint-A-Flower: White Swan Echinacea Outline Stamp Set Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ( $200 in total prizes)

August 22, 2021

Welcome to the Altenew Paint-A-Flower: White Swan Echinacea Outline Stamp Set Release Blog Hop + Giveaway.  You should have arrived here from Natalie’s blog. This blog hop is hosted by Altenew. I hope you are inspired by the hop to create a beautiful masterpiece using this new stamp. Let’s get into my card for today.

This beautiful stamp making a striking centerpiece on your cards. The designers and guest designers will show you just how much fun it is to create with this stamp. Starting off my card, I stamped the image in black ink onto watercolor paper. Using the Altenew Spring Watercolor Brush Markers I colored in this beautiful image. These markers are awesome for simple watercoloring.

Altenew Paint-A-Flower White Swan Echinacea

I watercolored the flowers first and fuzzy cut them out. Now it was time to set these aside and work on my background. To create the background I started off with a piece of green cardstock. Next I pulled out my Leaf Bed stencil and Altenew Moss ink to stencil on the leaves background. I love this stencil so much for creating simple backgrounds for cards.

I used more Moss ink towards the bottom of the panel and kept the top a little lighter. Next I used the Moss ink to saturate a piece of green cardstock to create a panel for my sentiment. I stamped the sentiment in Versamark and heat set it with Altenew White Embossing Powder.

To finish off the card, I trimmed down my panel smaller to fit onto an A2 card panel. Using foam tape I popped up the flowers and placed them on the card. I also used foam tape to pop up the sentiment as well. I really love who this card turned out. Next on the hop is Jaycee. I’ve also included the entire hop list in case you get lost along the way.
