Brea Reese Alcohol Ink Coasters

July 10, 2019

Hey peeps.  I love home decor and I also love adding my own flare to my home so I pulled out my Brea Reese Alcohol Inks and made some coasters.  My hubby and I are always out in the lanai during the summer and I needed something to place our glasses on and no store purchased coaster was gonna do.  For my coaster of course I needed a rainbow flare and for my hubby’s I kept it simple and did a stone look.

Making the coasters is pretty easy.  All you need is a white ceramic tile, Brea Reese alcohol inks and blending solution, 91% rubbing alcohol and happiness in your heart. ❤️  To make your coasters, clean each tile with the 91% rubbing alcohol and a paper towel.  This will remove any finger prints or dust particles.  Next get creative.  I started off at the corner of my tile with red mixing in the blending solution to help it move.  Continuing with all the color across until my colors were complete. (Side note: if you don’t like how your coaster is turning out, wipe it clean with alcohol and you can start all over again.)

I’m all about the rainbow and this made a beautiful coaster.  Adding a touch of gold really made the coaster pop. The movement of the alcohol inks on this coaster really make it unique.  When laying down your inks make sure to keep the flow of it under control.  Using a heat gun or blowing it with a straw gives the coaster tons of movement.

Here is a close up of the inks.  Look how gorgeous these colors work on the tile.  You can add more texture by flicking on just alcohol to give it small white marks.  I have to say I LOVE how this turned out.

For a more masculine coaster, I pulled out my gray alcohol inks.  This was perfect for my hubby as he really likes the look of marble and slate. I worked in layer for this one.  The different gray scales of the Brea Reese alcohol inks are just beautiful.  It actually takes on a more undertone of blue on this one.  I used my heat gun to gradually move the ink around on the coaster until I built up the colors I liked. Then I came in with a paint brush dipped in blending solution to make the veins.  Make sure to clean your brush between each stroke as to not pull any color where you may not want it.  Splattering the tile with alcohol added interest and texture.

When you are completely finished make sure to seal your coaster with a spray varnish and add cork to the back to keep it from scratching surfaces you place your tile on.  I prefer Krylon Kamar Varnish.  If you are not a fan of varnish, you can also use resin to seal it.  I hope you enjoyed my post today and we would love to see what you are making with your Brea Reese alcohol inks.  Tag Brea Reese on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.  These inks make beautiful projects and we love to be inspired.  Thanks for stopping by today.  I’ll see you back here soon.

Technique Tuesday Blog Hop Day 2

February 2, 2019

Hey peeps.  It’s Technique Tuesday Blog Hop day 2 and I’m using the Remember When Scrapbooking stamp set.  This is a perfect stamp set for cardmaker and scrapbookers alike.  It’s super easy to create very graphic cards with it as well as use it for all your scrapbooking needs.  The Remember When stamp set is so versatile and I’m sure it will be one you will reach for continuously.

For my card today, I stamped out some colorful blocks using one of the solid images that comes in this stamp set.  I used spring like colors to keep my card light and bright.  Next I stamped out several of the sentiments in black ink on three of the squares.  This left with with lots of white space and it keeps your eye moving across the card with each sentiment.  I added just a few matching colored gems to complete the front of the card.  I used a piece of black card stock to mat this white panel on and adhered everything to a white card base.

Inside the card I placed a photo of my girlfriends and I.  We took this picture back in the summer and I want to give each one of them a copy of it to remind us of the wonderful day we had together.

Make sure to leave comments on the design team members blog for your chance to win.  You can find more details over on the Technique Tuesday blog.

Morning everyone. It's another day for valentine c Morning everyone. It's another day for valentine cards. In today's tutorial I made a trio of valentine cards from one background. This was so easy and so much fun to make. Where are my Distress Oxide Spray lovers?

With three colors of @tim_holtz Distress Oxide Sprays these cards were created. I don't have all the sprays and are "collecting" them little by little. The fear of using these sprays have been unleashed. 😂😂😂 After watching more and more videos from Tim, my nervousness of "messing it up" has been replaced by "oh that's so pretty".

By using just two die cuts from products from the January 2023 release from @heroarts

The link for the tutorial is in the bio and I hope I inspire you to start creating your Valentine's Day Cards.
