As promised from my post yesterday, I have a tutorial showing you how to create a few gorgeous cards using the Paper Layering Circles. Before you get started, pick a fabulous color palette (if you need help, check out my Pinterest Color Combinations board). Then it’s all about the die cutting and layering of these circles.

Simple sentiment strips finish off the larger circle cards and a large stamped sentiment fills in the extra pieces card. You understand that better when you watch the tutorial.

Woot woot! It’s the beginning of Simon Says Stamp Stamptember. Oh this is a glorious time for us crafters. A full month of amazing releases from Simon Says Stamp and accompanying company.

My card today is featuring the new Simon Says Stamp Paper Layering Circles. This die set is super easy and fun to use. Once you pick your color palette, it comes together super quick.

Simon Says Stamp July 2021 Release

Good morning everyone. Today is the Simon Says Stamp July 2021 release. I had the pleasure of working with this gorgeous background stamp called Mountainscape. Oh my goodness, this stamp set has my name all over it! Let’s take a look to see how this card came together.

As soon as I saw this stamp, I knew pulling out my watercolor markers was my go to medium for this card. You may have heard me mention that watercoloring is a peaceful and relaxing way for me to color. I have a load of watercolor mediums (watercolor markers, tube watercolors, gouache and pan paints). Karin markers sit right next to me on my desk so I decided to use them.

To begin, I first stamped the image in Versafine Onyx Black ink on Canson XL watercolor paper. Sprinkled on clear embossing powder and heat set the image. Next I laid down a color wash of green and gray over the trees and mountains. Once I heat set that layer, I came back in with different tones of green and gray to build up the colors.

To complete the sky area, this was a little tricky. First I scribbled blue, yellow, pink and purple makers onto my glass media mat. I wet my paper throughly and picked up colors to blend onto the watercolor paper. I made sure not to let colors that would turn to brown touch. Heat setting the first layer I was able to really build up the color variations in the sky.

For the clouds I used a little bit of white gouache to make them white since the paper had more of a cream color. I also used a little bit of white on the top of the mountain tops. This panel started off larger than I needed, so I trimmed it down make a 5×7 card. I finished off the card with a sentiment from the You Got This stamp set also from Simon Says Stamp.

Simon Says Stamp Rainbow Release

Hey hey everyone. It’s time for the Simon Says Stamp Rainbow Release. I’m thrilled to be able to share two cards with you today using the Leaf Bundle Embossing Folder.

Using the Simon Says Stamp embossing folders really helps you create those quick and beautiful cards. One pass through your die cutting machine with or without adding color to the embossing folder and you a beautiful card. I used the same color of cardstock for each of these cards. I started with Simon Says Stamp Fog card stock only for the first card running in through the die cutting machine. The second card I also used Fog card stock. However I brayered on Simo Says Stamp Sunshine and Lemon Zing on the embossing folder prior to using my die cutting machine.

Two beautiful cards with the same design yet strikingly different. Just the hint of yellow really makes the leaf bundle stand out. Pairing the cards with black sentiments and thin strips of cardstock to the outer edge also gives the card some interest.

To finish off the cards, I used sentiments from the Reverse Slimline Love You Sentiment Strips. I love using these sentiment strips for quick and easy cards. Simon Says Stamp Born To Sparkle Release

Hey peeps. I’m super excited to be sharing in the Simon Says Stamp Born to Sparkle release. I had a chance to play with the Magnolia Background stamp and I absolutely love it. We happen to have a magnolia tree in our front lawn and I love the fragrance from it. So I have two cards for you today.

My first card I pulled out my watercolors and got to work. Watercoloring for me is very therapeutic and since I’m limited to my crafting time it gave me a chance to relax and play. For added depth and shading I used my Faber Castell polychromo pencils. The navy background was done with color pencils and watercolor. I didn’t want a sentiment to cover up the image so I in-lay diecut the Happy Everything die from CZ Designs. A few pretty gems and this card was complete.

My next card I used my polychromo pencils. Both of my card were done with the no-line coloring technique. To add a pop of color I used the brightest pink Copic maker I had in my stash to fill in some the the blank white areas between the leaves and flowers. I thought it would be fun to add some white dots in that hot pink area and a few flat sequins.

Choosing to frame out this image as if it was a photo, I die cut a textured frame to place around the image. The sentiment is from the CZ Designs hello in hot pink. I stacked a few of the hellos for added depth. Next I used a shimmer pen for some sparkle and glossy accents. You really can’t tell in the photo but the shimmer is there I promise. LOL
