Watercolor Tube Inspiration Card

June 22, 2019

Hey peeps.  I’m back today sharing a quick crafty card I made a few weeks ago.  I love to watercolor so when I saw the Arts & Craft stamp set from The Ink Blot Shop I knew I had to have it.  This stamp set features some of the cutest images for us crafty peeps. You can watercolor the images or color them with pencils or markers.

For my watercoloring today I used a inexpensive palette I picked up from Amazon awhile ago.  I have a review of the palette here.  It’s really a great palette for the price.  I started off by stamping out the paint tube seven times so I could have all the colors of the rainbow.  I colored each one leaving some high light areas around the top.  Now I don’t get caught up on light source and all that.  I just like to paint and make pretty things. (However I’m taking a watercolor class so I might change that when I’m more experienced).

Watercolor Tube Card

Once I had all my painting done, I fussy cut each image with my spring action scissors.  Next I grabbed a piece of fog cardstock for the base of my card.  I popped each paint tube on a foam square and went in a circle-ish design round this piece after I stamped a sweet sentiment in the middle.  To add a little bit of white to the card base, I pulled out my gelly roll pen .10 and drew dots around the edges of the card panel and a few around the paint tubes.  Here’s a closeup of the card.

For my second card I pulled out the glue bottle, washi tape, paint bottle and sequin holder and got busy painting them as well.  The text on each bottle was done by first drawing the word out with pencil and then going over it with a fine tip pen.  Now it was time to add some Ink On 3 liquid pixie dust for sparkle. I fussy cut out each image and now they were ready for a card panel.

Again I kept the panel really simple with just a sentiment and faux stitching round the case base.  I them alternated the images and stacked them on top of each other as if they were sitting on my shelf waiting to be used.  This definitely  was a fun card to make. The sentiments for both of these cards are from The Ink Blot Shop Arts and Crafts sentiment stamp set.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I’ll see you back here soon with more card making inspiration.  Have a great day everyone.

No-Line Watercoloring Ink On 3 Hollyhocks and The 30 Day Color Challenge

June 15, 2019

Hey peeps.  I’m sharing some no-line watercoloring today using the Hollyhocks from InkOn3. I started this card a few weeks ago on Periscope and now finally finished it.  You can see the start of this card by hopping over to this link.  I love watercoloring and no-line watercoloring is easy with the fade out ink from Ink On 3.  I’m also participating in #thedailymarker30day challenge that the lovely Kathy Racoosin . I love participating in this challenge as it gives me a reason to color each day.

Hollyhocks InkOn3

I used my Windsor Newton watercolors to create the colors for my painting.  When mixing the colors, I made sure they matched my new vintage nuvo dream drops I purchased. Once I completed the watercoloring, I used the left over paint to splatter some color on the background.

Hollyhocks InkOn3

To finish up the card I pulled out my polychromo pencils to add in some depth to my flowers.  I do this a lot when watercoloring if I can’t get the depth I want.  I trimmed down this panel to add a fog background to it.  I stamped a simple sentiment to complete the card along with a few enamel dots using the new nuvo dream drops in Earl Grey, Dusty Rose and Pioneer Green.  I’m so in love this with colors.

Easy No-Line Watercolor With Neat and Tangle

June 3, 2019

Hey peeps.  I’m sharing an easy no-line watercolor card with you today.  When I just want to relax and color I love to pull out my watercolor palettes and color.  For me watercoloring is a peaceful experience.  I really try hard NOT to let it be overwhelming and intimidating.  To me it’s just water, color and paper. When I do my no-line watercoloring I used Fade Out Ink from InkOn3.  It’s perfect for no-line coloring techniques. Easy no-line watercolor is in your reach I promise.  I made a video sharing the top 5 watercoloring tools you need for successful watercoloring.  You can find it here.

For my card today I used the adorable Neat and Tangle Contemporary Kids stamps set.  I’ve had this stamp for a while however I just now getting around to play with it. I pulled out some gorgeous paper from my scrap pile (can’t remember the brand where this paper came from) for my color palette inspiration.  I used my Daniel Smith watercolors to color up these cuties on Arches watercolor paper.  Once they were colored and dried, I fussy cut them with some scissors.

Contemporary Kids By Neat And Tangle

To tone down the plaid paper, I wrapped it with a piece of vellum to soften it up some.  Just using the paper without the vellum was making it hard to really see the little kids on my card. Before I placed the vellum over the designer paper, I stamped and heat embossed a sentiment from the Color My Word stamp set from WPlus 9.  I placed the panel on a white card base and added just a few enamel dots for added interest.

Neat and Tangle Contemporary Kids

Here’s a close up of the card.  This card was so much fun to make.  As you can see it’s a really simple card however it’s so colorful without over doing it.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I’ll see you back here soon!

Knockout Nibbles From Ink On 3

May 9, 2019

Hey everyone.  It’s release day over at Ink On 3 and Knockout Nibbles is ready for your cart.  This adorable little guy is perfect for get well, birthday and Father’s Day cards. This set also has some cute additional images and sentiments.  For my card today I used the
ka-pow sentiment and one of the accent pieces to make a colorful background.  Once that was completed, I die cut it out with a stitched rectangle die.

I colored up little Nibbles with Copic markers and die cut him out with the coordinating die. To bring more color onto this card I layered my first piece with a light blue card stock.  I pulled out a red piece of card stock and adhered it to a white card base.  For added interest I added a few faux stitches with a .10 white gelly roll pen.

I adhered my colorful background to the card base. Next I popped Nibbles up on an action wobble. (I mean he’s just too cute to be standing still). To add a sentiment to my card I used a few of the sentiments in this stamp set to turn this card into a birthday celebration.

Here’s a closeup of the card.  Isn’t he just too cute?  I love how this card came out!  There are some great deals for shoppers today.

InkOn3 Heels To You Stamp Set – Calling All Fashionistas

April 17, 2019

Hey peeps. The InkOn3 Heels To You stamp set is PEFECT for your fashionistas in your life. I mean who doesn’t love a fabulous looking heel.  This stamp set is now available in the InkOn3 store. Below you will see a few cards I made using this stamp set.

For this shoe I used the Fade Out Ink from InkOn3 to stamp the image on watercolor paper.  I used my Daniel Smith watercolors to color the shoe.  I love how the shoe looks like denim.  Simplicity of this card keeps the focus on the heel.

For my next two cards I used my Copic markers to color in the heels.  I also added some glossy accents and liquid pixie dust for some added interest.  Stenciling a background in coordinating colors really helps land these heels in a happy place. In the stamp set there’s an additional flower image along with great sentiments. These added images will make beautiful floral cards.  You can easily use this set for Mother’s Day cards as well.

On a personal note:  I have been absent from my blog due to family matters.  We have lost three of our loved ones in three months and their deaths have left an incredibly empty place in our hearts.  It has zapped my mojo and my spirit at the moment.  I am slowly getting back to crafting and making tutorials.  Please bear with me as I process these losses and find some peace in my life.  Thank you all for your support and kind words on my social media platforms. I appreciate each and every one of you.  As I work my way through this process, please make sure to scroll through my blog for inspiration and tutorials.   Have a great day everyone and stay blessed.

Crafty hugs,

Dana
