Hero Arts Toucan No-Line Watercolor

July 19, 2022

Hey everyone. I’m sharing a simple no-line watercolor piece using the Hero Arts Toucan Bold Print.  I love this little guy. As you have heard me mention several times, I love watercoloring. It’s super peaceful for me to create and just let the water flow.

For this card, I first stamped the image with Hero Arts Contour ink onto Hero Arts Lux White watercolor paper. When using watercolor paper, you will need to stamp it multiple times since the paper has texture to it.

Now my toucan needed to be bright and vibrant in color. To help me achieve the color I wanted, I pulled out my mini palette of my favorite Daniel Smith watercolors. One thing to remember when doing no-line watercoloring, you can omit areas that you just don’t want to fill in with color or make certain images bigger by going outside of the line.

After I finished my watercoloring, I set the image aside to dry. Now it was time to trim down the piece and add a back panel that matched one of the colors int he painting. I used Hero Arts Peacock paper for my backer today.

The Peacock cardstock really pulled that gorgeous blue from the image out. Needing a simple sentiment, I stamped the birthday sentiment from the Hero Arts Cockatoo stamp set. Such a find sentiment for this card and others.

Thanks for stopping by today everyone. I hope I’ve inspired you to do a little bit of no-line watercoloring with Hero Arts products. Have a wonderful day and see you back here soon.

Hero Arts Monstera Stamp Set

July 17, 2022

Hey everyone. Have you seen the Hero Arts Monstera stamp set? OMG, I love it. First of all this is one plant I’m truly drawn to. The large leaves and beautiful way it grows, has me wanting to plant them everywhere around my home. Let me show you how I used the stamp set.

I knew immediately this card needed to be clean and simple. By stamping the image in opposite corners of my panel using Hero Arts Intensi-fied Black ink it allowed me to color one with my Copic markers and leave the one white.

Next I used one of the small hearts from the Hero Arts Nesting Heart Infinity dies to have a place to hold a sentiment. By using the green Copic makers to color my heart, the color palette stayed simple.

I used a black and white gelly roll pen to add faux stitching around the heart as well as around the card panel.

Finishing off the card, I placed this panel on a Hero Arts Dove White side folding card. An easy clean and simple card. I really love how this card turned out. If you want to see more cards made using Hero Arts products, you can click here to find them.

Metallic Ink Watercoloring With Hero Arts

July 15, 2022

Hey everyone. Today I’m sharing a card using the Hero Arts Birds of Paradise stamp set and coordinating Birds of Paradise Frame Cuts. I love watercoloring using the Metallic Inks from Hero Arts. When I use these inks on black watercolor paper, it makes a stunning card.

Starting off with Hero Arts Black Watercolor paper I stamped out the plant in Hero Arts Embossing and Watermark Ink. For my embossing powder, I decided to use Hero Arts Gold Embossing Powder. Once the image was heat set, it was time to watercolor.

Metallic Ink Watercoloring With Hero Arts

By using several colors of the Hero Arts Metallic ink, I created a beautiful blend of color across the image. By mixing yellow, green and cooper, the colors worked well together. Once the image was dried, I used the coordinating frame cut to cut out the image along with several white die cuts so I could stack the image.

Metallic ink watercoloring

Knowing I wanted to keep the background soft, creating just a few stripes with the metallic inks kept the card clean and simple. A simple sentiment from the stamp set finished off the card nicely.

Metallic ink watercoloring

This stamp set would also look amazing colored with pencils, alcohol makers or even re-inkers. It’s beautiful design can really make a clean and simple card or a very ornate card. Just remember not too have too many competing elements on your card. It will distract the eye from your coloring.

I hope I’ve inspired you to watercolor with the Hero Arts Metallic inks. They really are a pretty medium for your crafting projects. Have a great day everyone and I’ll see you back here soon.

Hero Arts My Monthly Hero July 2022

July 5, 2022

Welcome to the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero for July 2022. You should have arrived here from Channin’s blog. We’re serving up tropical summer vibes with our July My Monthly Hero release! This month’s kit features a flock of flamingos in HeroScape form. Layer the included inks to easily stamp the gorgeous birds, and create a scene with water below and clouds above. Your recipient will be tickled pink when they receive your card, embellished with the colorful gems or Teal Hero Pearls that round out the kit.

The kit contains the following:

• 6″ x 8″ Clear Stamp Set
• 7 Coordinating Frame Cuts
• 5 Ink Cubes (Cotton Candy, Peony, Azalea, Arctic, Paradise)
• Self-Adhesive Pink & Teal Gems
• Teal Hero Pearls (0.6 oz)

So let’s start with my card. I trimmed down a piece of Hero Arts Dove White cardstock and blended Hero Arts Mist and Aegean inks to create this pretty background for my flamingos to rest on. Adding the sparkly gems from the kit really anchors my birds.

A tutorial was made for you today. You can watch it here or over on my Youtube channel mzdanajoy.

My bonus card for today is featuring the new Hero Arts Peacock Die. How fancy is this little one? This die allowed me to create a rainbow feather feature for my peacock. Setting it onto Hero Arts Pitch Black cardstock  and tucking him into a piece of Hero Arts Kiwi cardstock really made it pop. A simple sentiment heat embossed with Hero Arts White Embossing Powder went perfectly on the kiwi cardstock. I used a .10 white gelli roll pen to add some waves and dots around the edges of the cardstock.

Pre-order your kit today – we estimate kit shipping will begin Friday, July 8th and continue throughout the following week. We will give away a $50 gift card, drawn from the comments left across the hop. Enter by Sunday, June 10th at 11:59pm Pacific, and the winner will be announced on the Hero Arts blog the following week. Next on the hop is Daniel.  I hope we have inspired you to create beautiful cards with the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero for July 2022. Have a great day everyone and good luck!

Morning everyone. It's another day for valentine c Morning everyone. It's another day for valentine cards. In today's tutorial I made a trio of valentine cards from one background. This was so easy and so much fun to make. Where are my Distress Oxide Spray lovers?

With three colors of @tim_holtz Distress Oxide Sprays these cards were created. I don't have all the sprays and are "collecting" them little by little. The fear of using these sprays have been unleashed. 😂😂😂 After watching more and more videos from Tim, my nervousness of "messing it up" has been replaced by "oh that's so pretty".

By using just two die cuts from products from the January 2023 release from @heroarts

The link for the tutorial is in the bio and I hope I inspire you to start creating your Valentine's Day Cards.
