Alcohol Ink Textured Background – Let’s Go Masculine Today

August 7, 2019

Hey peeps.  I’m back sharing a masculine alcohol ink textured background. Whew say that three times fast.😂 These types of alcohol ink backgrounds are super easy to make.  Running these backgrounds through an embossing folder really plays up the color and design.  Let me show you the project I have for you today.

Masculine Alcohol Ink Background

As you know I love playing with the Brea Reese alcohol inks.  The colors are gorgeous and really easy to work with.  You can see other projects I’ve made by clicking the Brea Reese link here on my blog. Usually I would use the watercolor paper from Brea Reese however this time I used regular Neenah Solar White 110 lb card stock for my background.

To achieve this look I added the ink to a piece of felt and ran it back and forth over the paper.  Achieving that beautiful almost leather-like feel I mixed cadmium red, cadmium yellow and orange inks together.  I kept going back and forth over the paper until the colors blended into each other creating that brown leather look.  For an added pop of color I swiped over the entire piece with turquoise. Adding some fine gold mist was the last step before I set the paper aside until it was dried completely.

Masculine Alcohol Ink Background

The next day I pulled out a weave pattern embossing folder and ran the panel through my Gemini Jr. machine to create this very masculine texture.  The pressure from the embossing folder also helped to flatten out my panel.  Up close it really does look like leather. I didn’t want to add too much to this card so a simple sentiment of thanks and a white card base completed this card.

Make Your Card POP With Alcohol Inks

July 18, 2019

Hey peeps.  Make your cards pop with alcohol inks!!  It is such an easy way to add beautiful color and uniqueness to your next set of cards.  I’m a avid card maker and I’m always looking for ways to kick my cards up a notch.  Using Brea Reese alcohol inks makes that a breeze.  So let’s get into today’s card.

To start my card I pulled out a piece of Brea Reese waterproof paper and got creative.  Staring with cadmium yellow and orange inks I worked the ink into the paper adding lots of blending solutions to soften up the color.  Creating a little more intense color I added just a few drops of cadmium red. Creating movement in the ink was easy by using a Brea Reese blending tool to push and move the color until I achieved the blend I wanted.

Let’s it kick it up a notch.  Add gold alcohol ink to my blending tool and started dabbing it all over the paper.  This gave me a gorgeous marble affect.  You can create amazing color blending using the blending tools and gold alcohol ink.  If you need to soften things up, just dab on some blending solution.  Once all the blending was complete I pulled out a large cover plate to die cut a leave design.  I LOVE how these leaves look.

The colors of these leaves I would of never been able to create with just blending inks.  Brea Reese alcohol inks make my heart so happy.  If you really want to have a lot of this color variation, I suggest making and entire 8×11 panel so you have lots and lots of scraps.  Speaking of scraps, I could not just toss what was left over so I made another card using the rest of the alcohol inked paper. For this card I keep it really simple and used a large strip of paper on the bottom portion of a coral piece of card stock.  Stamping a leave background on the coral piece and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder makes the card really soft.  Keeping with a simple sentiment made sure my colorful alcohol piece was not overwhelmed.

I would love to see what you create with Brea Reese products.  Make sure to link them over on the Brea Reese Facebook page. Also you can find some much inspiration there too.  Thanks for stopping by today.  I’ll see you back here soon!

Reverse Rainbow Card With Brea Reese Alcohol Inks

June 30, 2019

Hey peeps.  I shared a card last week using a beautiful rainbow alcohol ink piece to make a shaker card.  I NEVER get rid of scraps of pretty paper.  So today I’m going to show you the card I made using the scraps from last week. Of course the gorgeous Brea Reese alcohol inks are the star of this card.

Any time you make a great card using a die, see what else you can use the leftover piece for.  My card today is reverse rainbow.  These beautiful piece came out of the Rainbow die cut from Avery Elle I used last week.  I love the way it looks on the all white background.  It also reminds me of a sound echo of some sort.  LOL I see all kinds of things when I create.  All I did was glued the piece onto a white card base and stamp a simple sentiment.

Reverse Rainbow Card

I wish I had the power to create such beautiful cards with all my alcohol ink backgrounds.  Some of them are so beautiful I really don’t want to use them.  (LOL I know- first world problems). However when you know using Brea Reese alcohol inks would make your heart happy, don’t you want that feeling to last through your art?

Brea Reese Alcohol Inks

To keep the card simple. I kept lots of white space, used a simple sentiment and very few embellishments.  I didn’t want anything to compete with all that color. The card base was made out of fog card stock.  Another color that won’t compete with my alcohol ink pieces. Absolutely stunning.

I’ve linked all the products used for this card below for your shopping convenience.  I also have a link to more work I’m done using Brea Reese alcohol inks.  Want to see a tutorial? Head on over to my Youtube channel. Thanks for stopping by today.  I’ll see you back here soon.

Brea Reese Alcohol Ink Rainbow Shaker Card YES PLEASE

June 24, 2019

Hey peeps.  I’m sharing a Brea Reese alcohol ink Rainbow shaker card with you today.  Playing with the Brea Reese alcohol inks is so much fun.  As you can tell from the pictures I’m still working my rainbow groove.  I can’t help it, it makes me happy.  For the cards today I laid out my Brea Reese alcohol inks in rainbow color and worked on the Brea Reese waterproof paper.

To start off my shaker card I pulled out my Avery Elle Rainbow die (which I have fallen in love with) and die cut out my rainbow. I trimmed down this piece and made sure to keep all the scraps. Placing a piece of acetate behind this piece to keep all the glittery bits we will fill the shaker with.  Next I used double sided foam take to make wells for each section and filled each one with sequins.   To close up the shaker, I stenciled a background using the Rays The Roof stencil from Heffy Doodle.  That beautiful yellow is mustard seed distress ink.

Brea Reese Rainbow Shaker Card

To make the clouds at the top and bottom of my rainbow, used the Hello Bluebird After The Rain Scene dies. On one of the clouds I stamped a sentiment from the Rainbows stamp set from Avery Elle. All that was left was to add the clouds to the rainbow. To finish off the card, I took the scrap piece of rainbow alcohol ink paper and cut two thin strips.  I glued these strips onto a piece of 4.25 x 5.5 piece of card stock.  Once the glue dried, I trimmed this piece of paper down just a tad bit so it would fit on a card base.  The card base color is fog from Simon Says Stamp. The perfect light gray for this card.

A beautiful shaker card is now complete.  Look how yummy that ink looks on the rainbow.  The colors blend so pretty together.  I’ll be sharing another card using the left over pieces from this card on a project soon.  For more projects using Brea Reese alcohol inks you can click here. I’ve linked all the products below for your shopping convenience.

Have a wonderful day everyone.  I’ll see you back here soon!

Brea Reese Alcohol Ink Techniques – Let The Happiness Begin

May 16, 2019

Hey everyone.  I’m sharing Brea Reese alcohol ink techniques – let the happiness begin.  I had the opportunity to have some of these inks sent to me for review.  I also purchased a few additional colors on my own along with the Brea Reese waterproof paper.  These Brea Reese inks are very vibrant and work fabulously on the Brea Reese waterproof panels and the waterproof paper.  To me these inks seem to blend easier than other alcohol inks and they work beautifully with other inks as well.

Let me share a few of the projects I made with these inks before we get into the tutorial.  In the tutorial I share you will see several Brea Reese alcohol ink techniques that I hope inspire you to grab some and play. You will see in the tutorial how easy these pieces came together and how quickly you can make stunning backgrounds and sentiments for your next set of cards.
