Let’s start with my first card. For this card I used the new 6×6 City Stencil from this month’s kit. What I love about this stencil, is that three stencils are incorporated into one stencil space. This allows you to use one stencil, two stencils or three stencils on one piece of cardstock. You will see what I mean in the tutorial I have for you today.
By using the Hero Arts Reactive inks in Fruit Punch, Lemon Drop and Splash, I was able to create this rainbow city skyline by only blending three shades of ink. For the darker ink on the bottom, I combined two shades of gray Granite and Charcoal to create a moody city skyline.
Let me show you in the tutorial exactly how to do this. You can watch the tutorial here or over on my Youtube channel mzdanajoy.
Now for my next card I immediately feel in love. Working with the new Decorative Tile Pattern Stencil (only available from retailers and online shop) on color cardstock really make this stencil come to life. By using Hero Arts Peony cardstock I blended Hero Arts Taffy and Berry Smoothie reactive inks through the stencil. For added interested, I had certain areas overlap with the two colors.
Without removing the stencil, I wiped down the stencil to remove any color sitting on top. Next I pulled out my Hero Arts Glitter Paste and smooth this over the stencil. This gave the color a more muted look with tons of sparkle. Now it was time for a large sentiment. I die cut the word friend from the Hero Arts Smile Friend Stamp and Cut XL onto Hero Arts Basic Glitter Paper.
To make the sentiment stand out, I blended a second friend die cut with the Berry Smoothie ink to add behind the glitter one to create a shadow. For a sub-sentiment, I used the hello sentiment from the Message Basic stamp set. By blending just a bit of Berry Smoothie Ink onto Hero Arts Dove White Cardstock, I had a pretty place to stamp my sub-sentiment. I stamped the hello in Hero Arts Unicorn White ink.
To finish off the card, I place a strip of white glitter paper behind the sides of the peony piece. Next I adhered it to a side folded card. I adhered the friend and hello sentiments on the card and added just a few pearls to the center of a few tiles.
Here is the list of blog participants. I hope you enjoy this new Hero Arts June Hero Studio Card Kit. Make sure to join in on the hop and leave comments along the way. I’ll see you back here soon.
