Hey peeps. The Brea Reese alcohol inks are amazing!! I had a chance to play with a few of them thanks to the lovely ladies over at Momenta. There are a few brands on the market when it comes to alcohol inks however these flow so smoothly and easily to me. I feel like a mad scientist when I’m working with these inks. The colors blend and flow on yupo paper, waterproof paper and waterproof panels with ease.
My color combo was created using ocean green, lake blue and rose. I love this color combination for achieving ocean colors in depths of blue all the way to purple. I added some gold to this color combo as well to give it some shimmer. The gold is not part of the Brea Reese alcohol inks. To keep the color moving swiftly across my paper I also used blending solution from Brea Reese.
To create a soft look, I made sure to use a heat tool however I kept the air blowing quickly on the paper and didn’t leave it in one place for too long. Note: if you use more blending solution, you will get a lighter color palette. Adding in drops of gold and keeping the ink flowing gave me great veins in this piece. With just one panel I was able to get two cards made.
I decided to keep both cards very clean and simple. I heat embossed some card stock with gold rush embossing powder from Ink On 3. The beautiful hello die cut is from Pink and Main and looks gorgeous in gold. Gold foil paper was a perfect addition to this card and worked nicely with the gold in the alcohol ink. A little bit of gold splatter and gold floss finished off these cards.
